It's been such a long time that I did not update my journal. and even not doing any new artwork. Well there are mix feelings as I am writing this, as my title have written, My Dad have just pass away peacefully this Sunday Morning after he have his third stroke 2 weeks ago, and it have been 2 weeks he is in a coma and hospitalized, and finally when the time is right he left for a better place, and with great rejoicing we send him off, and in my heart I know I will meet him again. During his first week when he was still in the hospital, I decided to take a long distant ride on my bike just to clear off my head from all this event.  As i was cycling past some plantation along the road,  as I was admiring how beautiful the scenery is with blue sky and weather was not too hot, then suddenly a voice came to my head saying "father is going to a much beautiful place than this, do u let him go" as I heard that I pray during the ride to release my father for all the good time and bad time we had, and the sense of peace just overwhelm me after i did that, assuring that my father are going to much better place and he need not to suffer any longer for his condition, My Dad actually suffer his first stoke 12 years ago and the second one 2 years ago and during those time, it was not easy for my family, but as we look back those extra years are bonus for his life with us, and a year ago my mum and dad decided to come over and stay with me and my sister, We actually bought a small apartment, and during that one year we are able to enjoy staying as a family again after for many years I have been away from home due to my work and career, It was also the exactly one year dad enjoyed the most having the family life again, he have also witness my win in my last year competition and we do have ups and down time during the one year, but it was final year that he enjoy the most. Now as Dad have gone home, I do feel there is an emptiness in life that I have to get use to it.  My mum and sis are taking in things well and we all believe we will met Dad again in much better place.

I can't believe that i actually won the mid year Gundam Model kit challenge 2010 in Malaysia, i did not won the champion prize but i did won the 'new challenger'(new comer/first timer)title. Ok here is the story

Since the end of last year i decided to join the local Gundam Model kit challenge, so i decided to build a centaur Gundam Unicorn as my entry, i started the build since christmas last year(that is why i did not do any artwork this year)full time committed to the build but the result was slow because i have to totally re-engineered the entire unicorn following faithfully to the horse anatomy, i was rushing the build until May until i heard that there is a mid year Gundam Model kit challenge 2010, i was hopping to enter the competition with my centaur so i work hard for it but finishing the kit was no way near, so happens at May i was also shifting to my new apartment so i was also busy getting the place ready, the build was greatly interrupt, i was in a panicking mode at that time because My gundam centaur are still not ready. Around middle of May i decided to re-use my old MG unicorn i did on 2009 fav.me/d26sq28 to enter the competition just for the fun of it while continue my centaur build to enter the year end Gundam Model kit challenge 2010 on november, which is a much more bigger. So i took out my old MG unicorn, dust off the dust, repair some damage parts, secure some of the parts with blue tack and send for competition. during submission night i met a lot of the local modelers and Pros, i saw their work and my jaw drops, i really admire their skills which is 10 time more better than mine, put my entry to shame and i must work harder to catch up to their level.

On the last day was the prize giving night on a week day, took me an hour+ to drive down to the competition area with one purpose in mind 'collect back my entry' at night, when they are announce the winner i was just looking around and joking with some of the forums guys, then suddenly on the 'new challenger'winner, they call on my name, i was stone for a while like are they really calling my name, since there is another participant also called Raymond, but no doubt the surname was my surname, so i went up to the stage still can't believe my crappy entry won, well it was a joyous moment a lot of Gundam Unicorn entry won and i was one of them, after the prize giving moment i hang around with the forum guys, met new friends, quite a number of the people knows my centaur work in progress in the forum but did not know me that well so i have to reintroduce myself to them. After collected back our model kit they have a Gundam unicorn group photo session,  around 11pm we all dismissed and went home, and call it a night.

It was a really fun experience, meeting people with the common passion, exchanging info where to buy the cheapest spare parts. but what matter to me the most is that i know i did not give my 100% for the competition and i am not even using my unicorn centaur, after looking at so many other people's work i must work harder to improve on my skills and learn airbrushing. in conclusion 5 more months to the year end Gundam Model kit challenge for 2010, work hard for it! give my 101% for the Centaur.

Oh man, it have been a year ago from my last journal entry,i think i should give a little bit of update about myself.

Like what the title said, i will be taking part in my local Gundam Modle Kit Challenge 2010, there will be a mid year competition and a year end competition, both i will be taking, my weapon of choice will be building a Gundam Unicorn centaur, that is why i have not been doing any artwork lately due to the build, i have been building it since christmas last year and it have been coming 6 months and i am only half way through, i was having second thought of not to rush for the mid year build since a rush work will only means regret, in a way i will still join the mid year competition by submitting my MG unicorn riser which i have build last year, not my best work but for the fun of it. i will be focusing more on the year end competition which is much bigger, i do wanted very much to win but i am only a newbie going against all the big boys and pros, even for local there are really some really good ones, i only consider myself as a junior compare to their skills, the biggest set back for me is that i have no airbrush experience at all, but i do recently purchase an airbrush with the compressor, price is good but now does my skills make magic out of it is the big ????.
i really don't want to rush out everything for the june contest but i do have some bigger plans for the year end competition i will also build a HG Kshatriya(gundam unicorn's enemy)along with the unicorn it will be a big show down between the 2 MS. sacrificing something small for something bigger. it will be quite wasted to send in my centaur gundam while the Kshatriya will be send to year end, so why not combine the both of them together for a MS show down.

I won't be doing any artwork for this year due to my focus on the competition, also taking a break from doing artwork for a while. for those of u who are eager to see the work in progress u can always check out this forum which i am constantly posting the work in progress forum.zerogunz.com/viewtopic.p… the lastest updates are on the last page

i'm back from my 2 weeks break, it was wonderful to be back in my home town(east malaysia), relax, rest, recover, celebrating christmas and new year with my family. Nothing fancy or super from my break, just a simple time spend with my family thats all. i have really missed my hometown and was also very much surprised how much it have changed for the past 10 years since i came over the west malaysia to study and work, but in the end i still loves east malaysia the most, the second thing i missed the most (besides my family)was cycling in my hometown sadly my old bike was given away by my mum when i was away, so when i arrived in my hometown i have no bike to cycle at all(sad)but i do plan to bring back my bikes to cycle again in my future trips. looking forward to go back to my hometown again.

here are some artworks and Gunpla i planned to do for 2009

1. alphaleo model sheets and some character artwork
2. lionhearts poster- it's about time i do a full character cast        poster, been planning to do this since 2006
3. My dream bike
4. oo Gundam combine with 0 Raiser in Trans-AM system
5. RX-0 unicorn Gundam poster (still considering)
6. Balto fan art, imagine combining le tour de france with balto

models and Plamo

2. kotobukiya 72 scale zoid blade liger
3. kotobukiya 72 scale zoid command wolf, planning to customized to Okami wolf version, i need to scratch build Okami's weapon(very excited about this build)

well all those mention aboves are only plans and i'm not making any promises, it's all depending on how much free time i have, i do welcome any suggestion and commends on from u guys, u can vote which project u wanna see the most.

As 2009 begins it's another new beginning and new adventure. it may not be an easy year but keep moving forward.

well, 2008 is coming to an end and 2009 is only a few weeks away from now. It have been a very busy year for me mostly in the office, the disney Jetix was done (wahoo!)did some animation test from some other really well known company, and for 2009 my company are penetrating into cartoon network, it's gonna be another busy year ahead of me.

As for my own personal work, i only did 3 major artwork this year, alphaleo has a new look now, i still need to refine the model more, need to work on various style for leo.

i also bought 3 boxes of kotobukiya's HMM zoids series, looking forward to assemble some non bandai high end model kit.

My Gundam fanart poster was selling like hotcakes in our local comic fiesta, it was little encouragement it did well in the fiesta, even-though the responses in DA was poor.

It was a really heck of a year for 2008, some good and some bad experiences, a very tiring year, so that is why i'm taking a 2 weeks off flying back to my hometown to celebrate christmas and new year with my family, come to think of it i haven't been home for christmas for nearly a few years since college and work(i normally fly back twice in a year to my hometown during the non festival seasons to avoid holiday crowds and expensive air fairs) and i was really looking forward to see my family again and spend some time with them before 2009 arrives, in a way i really needed some rest after a long and tiring year of 2008.

My dream bikes are no longer just dreams
Remember back in the 2002 when i first join DA and my very first pose
my dream alphaleo custom bike by alphaleo14 the reality my mountian bike by alphaleo14

well, it took me 2 long years to collect all the spare parts (2002-2004) and it is the bike i wanted 10 years ago since 1993. currently i swapped the mountain tires to road tires for road ridding  (love it)

Again my new road bike
i just got my road bike finally assembled after 2 years left it to catch dust (2006-2008)
my dream alphaleo racing bike custom by alphaleo14 the reality my road bike by alphaleo14

After my first test ride today, i notice riding a road bike was very different from riding a mountain bike, i was a bit scared that my upper body had to lean forward so much that i feel i m gonna kiss the ground anytime, my arms and back hurt after the ride because i had to channeled most of my body weight to the front. need some time to get use to my road bike and lastly i really need to get a new set of proper road pedals

i m taking up Gunpla
i just turn my animation table into a model kit work station, i hardly used the light box

well, i just turn 28 on september 14, and it was nice that some friends from the office pull a suprise for me, yeah! i was moved to tears and my face was blushing all the way, but it was very nice all of them presenting me a t-shirt with all theis mascot on it, some drew a birthday picture for me and some treated me nice lunch, it was touching, thank u all remebering my birthday.

the most exciting on going event now in my life is the Disney jetix series. this is the only article i can find so far www.animationmagazine.net/arti… it's the 5 month into the animantion production now, and it was really tiring and the deadline keep getting shorter and tighter, it was stressful but in a good way because for once it was something i really enjoy doing.

So far the first episode was fully finished, and i can tell u all, it was 'awesome', and i was moved to tears when i first saw the rough composite version. watching a good cartoon is one thing but involving in it was the joy of it, i have dream of involving a disney cartoon series but i never thought it was this soon,  and i had to say all the hard works and all the extra hours that i put into the project was worth it all, i really can't wait to see full 26 episodes finished, currently i am leading a team of 10 animators to work on one episodes and they are all doing a good job, many of them prove me wrong many time that they do well beyond what i expect them to do, and being a team leader myself was not a easy job, there are many times i got into troubles, problems and arguments and dealing with people. it was a good learning experince for me to be a leader, and not just being a leader but also being a better person in life, i have learn so much during this past 5 months and the most challenging part is keeping myself in a good figthing spirit during this time of hardship, 'run the race and keep the faith'  alphaleo14.deviantart.com/art/…

As for my own work, i'm trying my best to work out something, i'll upload some work in progress when i have the time to compile them.

It has been so busy for this pass few months, work and more works and still coming in, really need to schedule my time nicely if not 'doom on me'. Aside from that, i have been throught a lot of emotional struggle on my life and working career.

Not all bad things, recently my company won a 50,000 grant from the goverment to fund our inhouse animation project, i did the character design for the project. so it was also consider a personal triump for myself, and i also wanna thank my partner in crime :iconjoulester: for his various contribution and support from him so does my boss. picture can been seen here cmc.msc.com.my/event_detail.ph… our project title is called 'drop dead', we actually shouted drop dead! when we heard our team won. It was a great experince for once getting out of the office and i show no sign of regret attending it, learn a lot as well on what and what no to do, also exposing to other company's work. I'm also glad that my x-lecturer and X-director aslo won the 50,000 grant respectedly, it truely shows that local animation is slowly booming.
Well atleast now the journal's title makes more sense to u now.

It was nice also today i manage to bought a pair of new cycling jersey, 'Team Discovery Channel' trekstoremadison.com/images/li… www.gbcycles.co.uk/PIX/MAIN/sh… and the price is totally unbelievable low, originally i was suppose to go to the bike shop and shop a spare cycling pants(old one worn out) and suprisingly i bought a full set of jersey and short for the price of one, it was once again a blessing.

As for the MnU animation project, we are one month behind time but we are showing sign of progress slowly but surely.

It was very nice to have a one week holiday, thanks to local festival; a long weekend. I manange to get quite a few things done during the holiday, first i got my computer fixed up and check and found out i blowed up my computer's power supply and my graphic card not in perfect condition, but still usable, cost me some $$$ for a new power supply and service. Then i also have my mountain bike fixed(my last service a year ago) have some new old component replaced, tune up my gearing and my pedals, check out whats new in the shop. And the really good part is, they din't charge me a single cent for the repair.

In the mean time, my cousins took advantage of the holiday and was enjoying themselves in Singapore for the weekend and i was home alone to take care of the house, and i have to cook my own meals for a 3 days, so what i have been eating for this pass few days? A whole loave of bread coated chocolate saurce, instant noodle, some easy to cook microwave food and 5 cans of soda (un-healthy diet)

I was working hard during the holiday to get my gundam done and i already have the overall coloring done, pretty fast considering i work full time on it, if possible i would also like to do a 'kingdom hearts' fanart. I was rushing it for my art group's art book which will be for sale this coming december, we are entering the third year of producing our own art book and we really hope we can do better this year, last year was good we managed to sell 70% of our artbook within 2 days, and this year we looking forward to do better.

well, i quess that all for now, i'm going downstairs to for some chocolate bread now, kinda hungry after working.

Well, to begin with more things are geeting done for now, the marathon is over and i had to say i did pretty bad on it, i was worn out on the first 2 km and it was raining along the way, cold and wet seems to drag my moral down, but it's fun in a way, i can really see that the company is getting better in terms of staff benefit and activities, and i do hope it will get better in the future. got forth place among our company ranking out of 14 people. OOOOHHHHH!!!!! how my leg will hurts for a few days to come.

Been very much restless this past week due to the heat wave, can't even sleep probably, i had to get up middle of the night to showel to cool down, but still won't help much.

Also have been eating a lot this birthday week, my cousin treated me sushi and barbecue. A big chocolate cake form the company(nice). And it was too very nice of our :iconmars-and-uranus: gang gave me a nice monster inc t-shirt, many thanks to those freakos and also for those to who wished me happy birthday, thank u all again.

Other than that, disney series trailer been half done, it looks ok but there are still rooms for improvement to make it better. but sadly we all have to stay another week working late, and targeting to get it done by the end of september. i will be flying back to hometown for the one week break i'm suppose to have this week.

Well, to start off, it's pretty much a very happening month for the month of August. Been working like mad in the office, and more work are still coming in. Besides that, my cousin's pet dog died and guess who need to dug a hole and bury the dog. And worst of all i injured my toe during the process and it hurts. and to makes matter worst our house got broke in the second time, the damages was very extensive and my cousin was very upset over this issue. But she manage to get a new puppy and this time she got a very cute 2 month old golden retriver to cheer herself up despite all that had happen this month, i'm glad she taken it well. As for whats happening in the office, my boss put us to join a 10km marathon on september, oh crap! i have to get myself in shape again, had to start training. But one happy thing i'm looking forward is taking one week off on september to visit my family back in my hometown and celebrate my birthday back at my hometown, i have not celebrate my birthday with one family for 6 years due to college and work. And mum been pretty happy about this.

Oh one last thing new art-work are coming up.................. stay tune.

It has been two weeks since i got my APU done. The response in DA was very much ok, some like it while some don't, some improvement to be made, it can be better. Many thanks for those who have surpported and encouraged me throughout that one year, weaknesses and strenght are tested and i felt i can do better next time. I also manage to regain some confident doing direct speed painting in Photoshop www.deviantart.com/deviation/1… i was hoping i can work out a new style this coming months as well as updating Alphaleo's design, time to do some relearning.

My new racing bike was left hanging in front of my animation table, still a naked frame. I did some research online and listed out the parts i'm gonna get, the overall bike weight was really an issue especially the frame itself already weight 3.5 lbs, overall weight for the whole bike when assemble would be around 20 lbs to 23 lbs (my current mountain bike weight 25.5 lbs) the lightest racing bike i ever known was 13 lbs to 14 lbs for tour de France PROs. I also did some online bike review on the GT zr1.0 frame set and was very much surprised that many agrees that it was a good, stable, solid bike, despite it's weight issue it was a very good bike, hey! GT ZR1.0 is the flag ship within the GT racing bike. But sadly i won't be able to ride it for 2 to 3 years until i earn enough money to have it assemble.

Art wise, I have already started on my new art, while in the meantime doing some brain stroming for art trade, i'm trying to get my art trade mood started again, i'm seriously in dept to a few people so i'll try my best to get it done before they tear me apart. In the meantime i won't be accepting new trade until i got the old one cleared off. I'm also looking foward doing a short animation with :iconayonakari: 'real robot VS super robot', so far we both only talk about it, haven't start yet.

Today after sending my cousins off to airport i dropped by on a local bike-shop to check out whats new, then i came to notice one customer was bargaining with the store owner on a racing bike frame(that i have wanted for sometimes) then i over-heard the store owner offered him half-price bargain for the frame, in conclusion he decided to think about it and walk off, after he left the shop i approach the store owner ask is he really serious about selling the racing bike frame for that kinda of price he offer, 'well if i'm intrested i can have it for half the price' he said. After much consideration i bought the racing bike frame for half of it's price and i'm pretty happy with it, the only problem now is i have to slowly buy the spare-parts one by one just like my current mountain bike that i'm riding now, it took me two years to buy all the individual spare part, now i'm repeating the same cycle going to get the racing bike assemble.

As i look back 3 years ago i have painted this 'Alphaleo's racing bike custom' www.deviantart.com/deviation/8… have only dream of riding it, but now,  what i have dream is now a reality, i have the exact frame i have wanted www.nw-mountainbike.com/Media/…

The bike frame are made from heat-treated Aluminum and the bike fork is carbon-fiber(nice), overall it's not really that light but it is tought. I really love the blue and yellow finishing, the best frame color GT bicycle ever did. i'm pretty sad that GT bicycle din't put much attention and effort designing road bike(but they do make some of the best dual suspension mountain bike). oh well, nothing is perfect.

I have earn the extra money form my freelance work i did last month(i was suppose to use it to pay my car insurance) oh well, i need to do some more freelance work after this.

As for the APU, it is done! i'm finalizing the picture now. stay tune for it.

What a week, i took up some 2D animation freelance work with my X-lecturer last week(oh great! another week delay on APU). it was so tiring, i work my usual working hour from 8am to 6pm and freelance from 7pm to 11pm/12pm by the time i got home i too tired to do any other thing but to sleep. But somehow on the bright side i manage to relearn back some 2D animation skills form my lecturer(i have been animating with toonboom all this time) sometimes it felt good to go back to tradisional for a change, and i too found out that i still have so much to learn and relearn as a 2D animator, i find myself still very weak at my drawing skills and image spacing, and it is hard sometimes to be consistant following the key animator drawing(i'm the inbetweener). i have once read that 'Bad inbetweens will kill the finest animation' so even being a helper i have to do my best to maintant quality control on the animation.

But somehow it was a good experience to work with people who have more experience than i and i'm taking this opportunity to learn as much as i can from them. But i still have to confessed it down to the bottom line earning some extra income is my primary goal.

I have taken a week off and it's great, this weekend was relaxing especially it has been raining this past few days, finally cooled down the last few months of heatwave, i can still recall that the heat was so hot till i discribe my room was like an oven and my bed like a frying pan, i really have hard till sleeping this past few month due to the heat wave(hey! Malaysia is summer all year round) but now it's good that weather have finally cooled itself down. The only sad thing is that i don't get to ride my bike this weekend.

I will be getting back to work again on the APU this coming week.

I'm currently taking a break and in the mean time playing PS2 'Robotech invasion' and the result is? it sux!, probably the worst game i ever bought.

BAD
1. It is so filled up with technical problem like suddenly the enviroment suddenly disappeared while entering it, next thing u know u are free falling from the sky to your death.

2. Loading time took forever and ever.

3. The 3D model was so badly done. come on! i even saw a male cyclone rider using a female's cyclone armor. The 3D modelling quality is like N64 kind of model

4. The mospeada/cyclone bike has very bad control, and u tend to get stuck very easily.

5. What the crap! i can't use any of the alpha figther veritech, i have dream of handling them. saw some on the hanger bay, but they are only for display.

6. can't even use missiles on armor mode(the anime can)

7. A very bad adaption from the original anime

GOOD
1. Another robotech game,

2. They have nice gun riffle design.

3. shooting down the invids is fun(kill them all)

4. Very good music (Jesper Kyd)

5. One small step in experincing the Robotech world

6. Keep me entertain. reminds me how i enjoyed mospeada and robotech since childhood.
